Chicken Souvlaki Seasoning
Chicken souvlaki is chicken marinated with traditional Greek spices and herbs (Mikos Chicken Souvlaki Seasoning) cooked on a gril or griddle. It is usually served with a Greek salad and pita bread, either open face or as a sandwich.
Now you can enjoy chicken souvlaki in your home without going to a Greek restaurant. One restaurant I worked at had the reputation for the best Greek food in the city. When I asked the owner, "Why does your food taste so much better? What's the secret?" He told me, "Always start with the best herbs and spices you can get your hands out. That's the secret."
Most restaurants would never dream of paying what we pay for our spices and herbs. The old saying, "You get what you pay for," really applies here. Your chicken souvlaki will taste as good, or better, as any you would find in a restaurant.
Cut pieces of skinless, boneless, chicken breast into 1" cubes. Once their finished marinating, skewer the cubes along with optional chucks of onions, eggplant, peppers, or mushrooms on metal or bamboo sticks and grill them. If using bamboo sticks, remember to soak them in water first to prevent burning. Serve with tzatziki sauce.
